The Songwriter Hour featuring Megan Burtt and Clint Alphin
Thursday, February 14 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
The Songwriter Hour is performed and recorded with a live audience…The interview-style show will feature original songs from established independent musicians, along with a round table discussion and a Q&A section, where questions are fielded from the audience. The evening’s featured songwriters will discuss topics such as the songwriting process, melodic choices, and band dynamics with host Kyle Donovan. The two-hour event will also include a short intermission to allow listeners a chance to mingle and meet the artists in-person.
With appearances this year at Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival, and Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Kyle Donovan’s forthcoming album has already won critical acclaim from folk festivals and competitions across the nation. The storytelling troubadour has been crafting these vivid vignettes, capturing moments from everyday life to tell stories of love, loss, family, and the passage of time for a new album called Then and Now, slated for release later in 2018. He calls the countryside near Boulder, CO home, and often plays and collaborates with other songwriters on the Front Range.
Donovan’s 2016 album, The Kindness of Strangers, was inspired by the connection and common bond of humanity that he found touring across the US in 2015. The album’s “spare, acoustic, [and] infectious” sound landed Donovan an Honorable Mention at the 2016 Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Songwriter Contest and recognition from American Songwriter Magazine. He plays in multiple projects across the Front Range, including Summerland Sun, The Constellation Collective, and Clandestine Amigo, as well as fronting his own band.
His clear, pure tenor is his signature instrument, and often draws praise from critics…
”With an absolutely astounding vocal range, Kyle Donovan sounds like the long lost love-child of Carly Simon and Art Garfunkel. The acoustic instrumentation that supports him is lovely, but over and over Donovan’s voice is what draws all of the attention, and for great reason. It’s beautiful.”

Rocky Mountain raised Singer-Songwriter Megan Burtt says “I’ve always written songs . “I took piano lessons when I was young, but when I picked up my dad’s old classical guitar, things took off.” Inspired by Joni Mitchell’s Blue, Burtt taught herself to play, dreaming of a musical career. “I didn’t know any girls who played music, but Blue, Bonnie Raitt’s Nick of Time and the women on the MTV videos I saw, let me know it was possible.” Megan now splits her time between Brooklyn, NY, Denver, CO and on the road…In late 2017 Megan began a collaboration with four fellow red heads to form an Americana-Roots band called Gingerbomb. In addition to this new project, Megan is currently in the studio working on her third full-length solo record, slated for a Fall 2018 release…
Hailing from North Carolina, Clint has drawn inspiration from his home state’s heroes. “There is so much great music that has come out of North Carolina,” Alphin says. “James Taylor is perhaps my biggest influence; his phrasing and harmonic melodies are what have inspired me to first write songs.”…Clint moved to Nashville, TN in 2003 and has released an EP and three full-length studio albums since then. His latest, “Postmodern Man,” was released in 2015. It was produced by Neilson Hubbard.
“Clint Alphin writes and sings from the heart, always mindful of his rich southern roots.” ~ Jeni & Billy – Original Appalachian Folk Artists
